WCMD Challenge #2: Mexico

Hey everybody,

This is going to be a quick post.
This is challenge #2: Mexico

And here my take on the challenge.
I have used the stamp from Baroque Motifs stamp set on Riding hood red, Not quite navy, Kiwi Kiss and Pumpkin Pie ink and heat embossed using clear embosing powder. I have used the square punch to punch them out as tiles and matted them on their respective color cardstock and mixed the colors of the brads for the center. This is my interpretation of Mexician tiles. I like the simplicity of the card. Did not customise as I will do when I need them.
Thanks for all the challenges, Nicole.

WCMD Challenge #4: Australia

Hey everybody,

Challenge #4: Australia.

Australia is my home. Love it to bits.Beautiful place. Warm and friendly people.
Aborginal art is amazing. Very intricate and beautiful.
My first lot of stamps I got from Stampin’ Up! was the All Aboriginal stamp set. Love the set.
I have used this set to make an aborignal picture for my card. I heat embossed the lizard stamp using black embossing powder and then rubbed the brown red color ink over the paper (emboss resist technique) and drew around the lizards using white gel pen and some traditional aboriginal marker pens from Stampin’ Up!
Here is card for you:

Thanks for an awesome challenge once again Nicole.
One more to go. Mexico.
Hope I will get it done soon.

WCMD Challenge #1: Japan

 Challenge #1: Japan

Here is my take on Japan

I wanted to bring out the elegance of Japanese traditional women, cherry blossoms and the color red!I don’t know why I relate the color red with Japan more than China! But I do for some weird reason!!! So here is my interpretation on Japan on my card. I again dry embossed using cuttlebug embossing folder but I brayered the color red on the negative side of the folder and embossed the white cardstock. I like the outcome. thats excatly what I wanted. I decorated the eyes of the birds with red pearls and the end of the swirls with black rhinestones.I have used the velvet black ribbon on the bottom and decorated it with a large red pearl.I have not yet customised the card. Will do when I need to. I like  the elegance of the card. Hope you do too!

Thanks again, Nicole. Off to do Australia, land of sunshine and kangaroos.

WCMD Challenge #3: India

Hi Everybody,

I was hopping blogs today and came upon Nichole Heady’s blog. She has 4 challenges marking the World Card Day. I thought I will give them a go. Since my origins are from India, I thought I will give India a go first. If you want to participate click here.

Here is my take on Challenge #3: India

In India, we wear bright, vibrant colors, layers of clothes, with lots of bling and gold thread work. Paisley is very common in our clothes. So keeping that in mind, I have used a combination of bright blue, purple, green and orange on my card. I dry embossed paisley design using cuttlebug embossing folder. decorated the embossed cardstock with brads, rhinestones and gold gel pen.The ribbons are layered and adhered using rhinestone brad.Stamp is from Dreams de jour stamp set from Stampin’ Up!
I like the outcome. Hope you like it too.
The other countries are Australia, Japan and Mexico. I have done Japan. Will load it soon.
Can’t wait to make Australia. Thanks for the awesome challenges, Nicole

All three are simple and clean cards. I particularly love the one finished with Crystal Effects. Love to rub my hands on the card and feel the bubbles. Can’t wait to do more with Crystal effects.I have to explore the wide world to find out what more can be done with Crystal Effects. I am loving this product.

Stampin Up cards

A quick and simple card

Hi everybody,

Today, there are some important changes made by Stampin’ Up! in their IDA.
So I have to make some changes accordingly. That means I have to give up on a few things. Its hard but I have to make the decision. Will let you know what it is later in the week.

This morning, I was trying out a new technique. It did not work out but I ended up with a card which is just beautiful and glossy. I cut the glossy cardstock into the size to fit my card base. I then brayered the glossy cardstock with Kiwi Kiss and let it dry for 10 minutes. Then I stamped Fifth Floral Avenue flowers at an angle and used “Thanks so much” stamp from Sincere Salutation set. I then simply mounted the glossy stamped cardstock on the Pink Pirouette card base. Here is the card

I love these flowers from Fifth Floral Avenue. I like the glossy effect on the card.I hope you can see it on the photo! I am currently loving simple and clean cards ATM. I have another set I am making using White craft ink pad and Kindered Spirit stamp set. Will load them tomorrow.
