Taylored Expressions 7th Birthday New Release – Sneak Peek!

Hello and welcome to the Taylored Expressions 7th Birthday New Release.
Today is the start of the sneak peeks of the new Taylored Expressions new release. I am also excited to say it is the 7th birthday of Taylored Expressions. Yay!

Happy Birthday to Taylored Expressions!
Wishing Taylor all success now and in future.

We are celebrating the birthday with sharing lots of inspiration using new soon to be released goodies and of course there are fabulous giveaways. Woohoo! I will give you details regarding the giveaways towards the end of the post.
But first, I have couple of cards to share using the new dies and stamp set to be released on Thursday 3rd September.
This is my first card. I have used Presents Cutting plate to die cut using Lollipop cardstock twice. Then the backing for the present using gold foil cardstock. I trimmed the second Presents off the frame.. I also die cut Skinny Mini Party Borders die using gold foil cardstock and adhered at the back of the Presents die cut. I then adhered this die cut on the Shimmery White card front using foam adhesives. Now I added the second smaller presents stack next to the original using foam adhesives. The sentiment is from One & Only You stamp set. Simple yet makes an impact using the contrasting colours.
My second card is a shaker card.
For this card, I die cut the Presents Cutting Plate using the new Mint Julep cardstock and the backing of the presents are from Lollipop cardstock. The banners are die cut using the new Skinny Mini Party Borders and Happy Birthday Banner dies using gold foil cardstock. I adhered them to the back of the Presents Cutting Plate facing down so the banners are facing the right side with the cutting plate. Hope I make sense! Then I adhered an acetate panel to seal the frame. I added Build a Scene: Hello Happiness sequins inside, the foam adhesives around and using the confetti pattern paper from Hello Happiness 6×6 pattern paper trimmed to size to close the shaker box.  Love the colours from the pattern paper and the sequins, complemented with the gold on the banners. I simply adhered this shaker box on the Sugar Cube card front.
Absolutely love the Presents cutting plate, the Skinny Mini Party Border dies and Happy Birthday Banner dies. I think they make a good collection of dies to have to make a great birthday card whether it is a quick clean and simple card or an shaker card.
Now to the fabulous giveaway. Comment to win prizes. One random lucky comment will win fabulous giveaway from Taylored Expressions.Visit Taylored Expressions blog for details. Also visit Keia-Shipp Smith’s Blog and Shannon’s Blog for more projects using new release products.

This is my take on the challenge using Hero Arts stamp sets and dies.

I started with die cutting some masking paper using the dog die from Cute Baby Animals Stamp and Cut from Hero Arts. I adhered these masking paper die cuts randomly on a white cardstock panel making sure I  burnish and smoothen the edges. Then I sponged Tumbled Glass distress ink over the entire cardstock panel. Once the distress ink was dry, I removed all the masking paper  die cuts. This left me with dog shaped spots on which I stamped the dog image also from the Cute Baby Animals stamp and cut from Hero Arts. I used versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp the dog images. Black ink gave me a nice contrast against the blue. I filled in the gaps by stamping the sentiment “you” and the heart shape also from the same stamp set. With the dog images, I was on the fence on whether to colour or nor to colour. I ended up colouring not the entire image but certain bits of it with neutral colours.

For the focal point, I die cut three “Happy” from Happy stamp and cut from Hero Arts. I stacked and glued them.  I stamped the smaller sentiment from the same stamp set on a strip of white cardstock, trimmed fish tail ends. I adhered the sentiments on a vellum circle which is framed with a black circular frame. Finally, embellishing with Sparkly Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh brought the card together.

Positive and Negative!

Hey everyone,
Stretching my supplies is something I love doing. Especially using a particular stamp set or a die in more than one way not only stretches my supplies but also makes crafting fun. It makes me think outside the box. In this post I am sharing a full card using the negative die cut and a sneak peek of the positive card. This is one of the easiest way to stretch your dies.
I have used In a Word: Happy cutaway from Winnie & Walter to die cut from a blue ombre sponged panel. I saved the positive words and used the negative panel on my card above. Then used the positive words to make another similar looking card. Here is a sneak peek of the positive card.
If you want to know more about the cards, then check out the latest Australian Cardmaking Stamping and Papercraft magazine. You can see both the cards next to each other with the supplies and instructions to make them.
The magazine is now available to purchase from supermarkets and news agencies. If you like to subscribe to the magazine, then here is the link for you.

You are amazing!

Hey everyone,

I have another Taylored Expressions card to share with you today.

This card is made using the newly released Simply Stamped – Daisies stamp set and coordinating dies. This is a beautiful layering stamp set. I started with stamping the second layer large daisy stamp using Angel Pink Memento Ink on a white card stock panel. I then adhered this panel on to the pink card base.

For the focal point, I stamped two large daisies and one small daisy first with Angel Pink Memento  ink and when dry, I stamped the second layer with Rose Bud Memento Ink. I die cut these daisies using the coordinating Simply Stamped – Daisies dies. For the leaves, I used Pear Tart Memento ink for the base and Pistachio Memento ink for the veins. I die cut the leaves using the coordinating dies as well.

You are amazing closeup

On the card front, I added an acetate layer. This is a white striped acetate from We’re Memory Keepers. Then clustered the daisies and leaves and adhered on the acetate layer using foam adhesives. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. There are a few sentiment stamps in the set. Love the double font on the sentiment. I simply stamped and hand cut around the sentiment and adhered using glue. Finally, embellished with silver sequins from Build a Scene: Halloween sequins and Doodle bug’s pink sparkles enamel dots.

Check out Taylored Expressions gallery for more inspirations using Simple Stamped: Daisies stamp set and coordinating die.

Mr.& Mrs.!

Hello everyone,

A quick post today sharing a anniversary card using Penny Black products.

I needed a card to give a young couple celebrating their 2nd anniversary. I have used this birds and cage image from Penny Black’s Woodland Friends stamp set which I white heat embossed on watercolour cardstock. I then coloured the image with Zig Clean Brush watercolour pens. Love how the colouring turned out. But there was a lot of white space around. To highlight the focal image, I die cut an oval using oval die and several from scrap cardstock. I stacked glued them together with the coloured focal image oval die cut on top of the stack. I then trimmed the negative panel by quarter of an in lengthwise. I tied the gold thread toward the bottom of the panel and adhered this panel to the yellow card front. The stacked oval was inlaid in place. Love the dimension the stacked oval gives without having to use foam adhesives.

Mr. & Mrs. angled closeup//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

To start with, I only wanted to white heat emboss the sentiment on the back cardstock strip and adhered as shown. But then I had a light bulb moment and stamped the Mr. & Mrs. next to the watercoloured image splitting the sentiment with “&” inside the cage. I was pretty pleased with it 🙂 The sentiment is from You and Me stamp set from Penny Black,

I then added some 6mm and 4mm Pretty Pink Posh Onyx sequins to tie in the black from the sentiment strip together. Finally brush some shimmer on the flowers and birds using Sakura clear shimmer pen. and added glossy accent to the centre of the flowers and centre of the cage where I stamped the “&”.

As always I have listed all the products, I have used on my card below for you.

This is my take on back to school challenge.

Back to school card//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

I have used My Mind’s Eye School Daze 6 x 6 paper pad to make my card. I used the pencils pattern paper from the paper pad as my background. Then layered the busy background with a smaller panel of vellum. For the focal point, I stamped the note pad and pencil from Clearly Besotted  Teacher’s Pet stamp set, coloured the pencil with copic markers then cut them both out. I layered the stamped note pad over vellum, then the sentiment cut out from the School daze paper pad and finally the pencil. Simple and easy to make. No technique. I just wanted My Mind’s Eye School Daze papers to shine. Here is a closeup of the card.

Runway Inspired Challenge #90

It is time for another Runway Inspired Challenge. This is challenge #90 and we have a gorgeous dress by Monique Lhuillier.
This dress has both lace and floral trends in it. I particularly love the lace bodice spilling into the skirt a little and blending into the floral pattern. I wanted to bring that into my card but just did not get the mojo to do it. So I have used both the yellow lace and floral on my card not the way I wanted though. Here is my card for the challenge.
I used Penny Black’s The Garden cover plate die for my yellow lace element. I sponged the die cut with Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed distress ink, trimmed the edges randomly with scissors and adhered to the top left of the card front.

The flowers are from Blooming Garden stamp set also from Penny Black. I stamped them in black ink and copic coloured the flowers and leaves picking colours from the floral pattern on the dress. I then cut the flowers out and layered and glued them over the yellow lace. The sentiment is from Happy Notes stamp set also from Penny Black. I stamped using black ink on a strip of white cardstock and adhered using foam adhesives. Finally embellished with Sparkly Clear sequins.

Lots of white space with yellow lace and a cluster floral focal element. Pretty happy with how this card turned out. Now it is your turn to play the challenge. I cannot wait to see what you do. 🙂

Check out Runway Inspired Challenge Blog for more gorgeous inspirations from design team. You can also find the linky to link your challenge card.
