Clean and Simple Class #2 Day #10

Hello dear friends,

I am throughly enjoying the CAS class. Will be sad when it ends (cry!) I am catching up on day 10 homework. Missed day #9 and one more day in between. But I will catch up on them over the week.

Day #10 homework was to grab a stamp and use it in three different ways. Ok first here is my stamp set I chose to use. I chose the entire set instead of a stamp.

This is the Lil Inker Designs-Coffee Cozies Stamp Set. This is one set which I bought long time ago but didn’t use it at all.

Here is my sketch book once again. The sketches are very rough. But I do know what I want to do by just looking at them:)

Here are my three cards

This one is based on the middle sketch. Although I drew a landscape orientation on my sketch, I prefered portrait orientation. And I can use one card stock to make two cards. I have added some colour to the cozies to represent different characters of friends:)

This next card is using the third sketch. I have used purple neon ink from Hero Arts for the background and the sentiment and subtle stamping of the cup on the front panel.

The final card is the interactive card using the first sketch. 

Here is a picture of how the lid of the coffee cup comes out to reveal the sentiment. I went with the valentine’s theme on this card. The arrow is from Mama Elephant’s Trifecta 

So using the same stamp set three different cards. Love this idea and it is so easy to make a gift set this way.

Hope you like it. I have to keep going now. Today is my Wedding Anniversary and we are going out for dinner:)

Clean and Simple Class #2 Day #8

Hey everybody,

I wanted to try out Laura B’s plaid stamping ever since I saw her tutorial at Ellen Hutson blog and after viewing her video at the CAS #2 class, I was determined to give it a go.
I  practiced couple of times before I did these cards. I still need to do more practice to get it perfect.
But here are couple of cards I made using plaid stamping.

There is story behind this card. After viewing Laura’s video, I drove to the hospital to see my husband and at the same time looking for some inspirations. No! he is not sick! He is the doctor there. I met his colleague, an old man and guess what? He was wearing a cute plaid bow. These paediatricians get away with wearing all sort of quirky clothes lol! I love old men wearing plaid blazers, ties and bows. They look adorable. This man was wearing a yellow plaid bow and suspenders. He looked…. well! Quirky! Anyway, my inspiration for this card comes from this doctor’s yellow plaid bow.

I have used different shades of gray, yellow, and black SU inks to make the plaid. Then cut the bow using Lil Inker’s Bow die. The sentiment is  from Wplus9’s Super Star Stamp set.

Keeping with the masculine theme, here is another card.

I masked and stamped the plaid. I still need practice. You can see they are not very evenly stamped. But I still love the colours together. I used the line stamp from the same Wplus9 set to stamp the lines. I then diecut “love” using Iconic Words die also from Wplus9 and mounted it using foam adhesive with a backing paper on the inside. Here is a close up.

I had fun today, stamping plaid and hands are very inky. lol! Thanks Laura for an awesome video and sharing with us plaid stamping technique.

Tomorrow I will try Jennifer’s DIY inkpad technique. I don’t have the inkpad but I do have babywipes:)

CAS Class #2 Day #6

Quick post today. Catching up on Day #6 homework.

 I decided to use Kristina’s Sketch with her technique.

 I have used a dramatic tone on tone for my card. I picked the bark stamp from Happy as a Lark from The Craft’s Meow and stamped using black ink on grey card stock. I then stamped the flowers from Hope Blooms stamp set also from The Craft’s Meow on Studio Calico’s February Card Kit 6 x 6 paper pad pattern paper. Cu them out and glued them as a cluster. The enamel dot are from My Mind’s Eye from the Studio Calico Card Kit. The sentiment is from Typically Teen stamp set from The Craft’s Meow.

Love the tone on tone neutral background with pop of colours from the flowers and enamel dots.

Clean and Simple Class #2 Bonus Day #1

Catching up on the bonus day of the CAS class homework!
The homework was: Use die cutting to create a clean and simple card. 
Here is my card

I have used Inspired By Butterflies stamp set & dies and Big Greetings Stamp set for the sentiment from My Favourite Things. I have used Salty Ocean, Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint distress inks on my butterfly and sprayed with mini mister before I stamped on the die cut. I have also added some glitter on the butterfly. The spatter is using Huey Mist from Studio Calico. I have glued three die cuts together to get a raised effect on the butterfly without having to use the foam adhesives. Love the pop of colours on the white background.

Ok! my children have just returned from school. New school, new school year and using public transport to get to school. My son started year 8 in his new selective school. Daughter in year 6. They were nervous and excited this morning. Had an early start. So now I need to know how their day went.

Cannot wait for the new class this evening:)

Clean and Simple Class #2 Day #5

G’Morning everybody,

I am playing catch up today. Yesterday was busy and could craft. So today I caught up on Day #5 homework.

The homework is to take a stamp and brainstorm three different ways you can use it. Then, create one card using one of the ideas. 

Here is what I did with this Leaf Cluster Hero Arts Stamp

I have a sketch book where I roughly draw sketches and write down what I want to do with the stamps, what inks to use and how the sentiment goes. So I brainstormed three different ways of using this Leaf Cluster stamp set.

You can see how I wanted to use distress inks, spray and stamp on white background for vibrant colours on the first sketch. Then went for repeated stamping using green ink on kraft background panel mounted on Kraft base. Then I went for silhouette image on a Huey Misted background for the final sketch. I chose the third idea and made my card here.

I have sprayed Powder Blue Huey Mist on white card stock panel and stamped the Cluster Leaf image using Archival Jet Black Ink. I then stamped the sentiment from Designer Flowers stamp set from AnnaBelle Stamps using Archival Jet Black Ink. I have used green twine from AnnaBelle Stamps to tie a bow and topped the center with a large blue rhinestone. I then rounded the top corners and mounted this panel using foam adhesives. A clean and simple card using one of the brainstormed ideas. Hope you like it.

I really want to do the green repetitive images on Kraft card stock. If I get time, I will definitely try it.

Clean and Simple Class #2 Day #4

Gosh! I finally found about 15 minutes to post my CAS class homework card!
Too many things to do and very less time during the day! Just couple more days and when children go back to school, things will settle down a bit.
Anyway, here is my card tackling negative space.

 I have used Flutterby, Sophie’s Sentiment and Bannerific stamp sets from Lawn Fawn to make my card. I have used masking and still stamped, fuzzy cut and layered the banner. I coloured the flowers and leaves using copics. Love that the images are off centered towards the bottom leaving large negative space on the top. Here is a closeup of the card.

Ok! I cannot wait to see the videos tonight. Before that I have guests coming and staying over tonight. Two set of twins coming with their mother. Absolutely adorable kids. Cannot wait to see them:)

CAS Class Day#3

G’Morning from Australia!

Sharing a card, I made for Day #3 of Clean and Simple Class #2.

Another three awesome videos from Jennifer, Kristina and Shari. Thanks once again girls:)  I am more a visual person so these videos help me a lot to understand how a certain technique is done.

I loved Shari’s technique of stamping on a label and using it on the card. Great use for those mailing labels from my office drawers. And also love the use of sponge dauber for the circular colour spots. So I went ahead and used the mailing labels and the sponge dauber to make my card here.

 

I have used the Keys cling stamp from Hero Arts using Night Chalk Ink also from Hero Arts on my labels. The spot inks are Green Hills and Butter Cup from hero Arts. The Aqua card stock and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink The pattern paper and hexagon wood veneers are from Studio Calico. Rhinestones from Kaisercraft.

I also love the layout of Shari’s card. I modified it to suit my card. Also Shari had used subtle colour to stamp on the labels. Being a lover of bright colours, I went for a darker grey for my labels.

Clean and Simple Class Day #2

Hey everybody!

It is day #2 of CAS class and I am loving all the videos, techniques and tips from Julie, Jennifer and our own Debby Hughes. So happy to hear Debby’s voice in her video. Of course her work is fab as always. I am very fond of Julie and Jennifer’s work and videos. It was a treat last night with three videos. Thanks guys:)

I decided to combine Julie’s and Debby’s techniques into one card as I have catch up on other work at home today. I have combine reverse masking with embossing using dies into this card below.

I have used the negative of PTI tag & postive mask of the MFT speech bubbles & PTI Arrow and sponged HA’s Raspberry Jam ink and also sponged SU’s Rich Razzleberry on the edges. I then embossed the speech bubble and arrow. Stamped the speech bubble stamp inside the embossed edges. I didn’t have the arrow stamp. So I freehanded the outline of the arrow using black pen. I then stamped the sentiments from MFT’s Say What? stamp set. I had red sparkle gel pen. I went over the heart shape with it. The applied glossy accent on top. The green dots are from Pearl Pen. I then added the button from Teresa Collin’s Now & Then collection and green twine from AnnaBelle Stamps.

Here are some closeup picture of the card to show the embossing and  glossy accent.

 Although it looks clean and simple, it too me atleast an hour to make it. I had to be careful of inks bleeding, inky finger on the card, giving time for glossy accent and pearls to dry… But towards the end it is so worth it.Hope you like it.

Hey everybody, It is me again!

Aditi’s tooth extraction went well. She was brave and didn’t make any fuss! I was more scared than her. What a relief! Now her permanent tooth can grow straight and fast.

I came back and made a card using Amber’s sketch and masking technique from CAS class.

Here is the card I made.

I have used the largest heart shape die from Wplus9’s Clear Cut Stackers-Hearts to die cut on a transparent sheet which came with stamp sets. What a lovely use for them? I have been hoarding them for a few years. I am so happy that I can use them now. Thanks Jennifer:)  Now, I used the negative of the die cut as my mask. I stamped images from Love Birds and Folk Arts Florals stamp sets from Wplus9 using different colours. Love love this technique and I can use all those large dies to get different shapes and stamp inside them:)
I am a bright and bling girl. So my colours have to be bright and of course I have to add some rhinestones. I also love the idea of stamping the sentiment along the side of the heart shape.

Clean and Simple Class Day #1

Hey everybody,

A quick post before I take my daughter to the dentist.
I signed up for the Clean and Simple Online Class #2 and played along day #1 using one of their sketches.

Here is my card,

Gold is trendy right now. I realised I have brushed gold cardstock from Stampin’ Up! in my stash and I had forgotton about it. So I opened the pack, die cut some chevrons (from MFT) and paired with some shades of coral and cream chevrons. I layered  and glued them to a 4′ x51/4′ card panel. Die cut the circle, Stamped the sentiment from Wplus9 Cupid’s Arrow stamp set. I also layered the banner strip by stamping in scrap card stock  then fussy cut out and adhere using foam squares. The wood veneer arrow is from Studio Calico Popcorn Add-On Kit which is inked with black ink.

Here is a closeup picture of the wood veneer arrow and layered banner in the sentiment.

Now I am off to the dentist. Then I will comeback and play another sketch and use Amber’s technique.
