Curtain Crew Inspirational Challenge, Penny Black

Curtain Call Challenge Reminder and a farewell!

Hello folks,
Welcome back. I feel as though I haven’t been here on a long time. It has been very busy. As of you who follow me on Facebook, you will know I have been renovating a property of mine after tenants trashed it last week. It all happened when it was time for them to vacate and we did not extend the contract. We wanted to see the property because we had not looked at it for a year and we wanted to give a fresh lick of paint. Now, for past two weeks, we as a family has been spending time renovating the property and it has been exhausting. That is why I have been MIA. Most of the work is done now. Only small jobs left. By tomorrow all will be done. It has been a great learning experience for somebody like me who has not done trades. Looks like I can now handle it and learnt some tradie language as well lol!
Anyway, today I have a second and last card for Curtain Call Challenge. There is time still have time to play Curtain Call Challenge – Bouquet sponsored by Penny Black.
Here is my second take on the challenge
I just love you card1
I have used Pretty Petals stamp set from Penny Black to stamp and copic colour. I paired the coloured panel with black and white pattern paper from Beau Jardins pattern paper pad.
I just Love you closeup1
I have accented the card front using Pretty Pink Posh’s Sparkly Clear sequins.
Come and play the challenge. there are two prizes from Penny Black to be won.
You have until April 25th at 8:00 AM CDT to be inspired and share your project!
So when I said last card, I meant that I am stepping down from the challenge. I have been in Curtain Call Challenge for past two years. I thought it is time for me to step down and give another talented designer a chance to be on this gorgeous team. I am sad but I had a great time. The team is awesome, Stacey is a great person to work with. Very approachable and flexible. I have been very lucky to work with such wonderful people. Thank you so much Stacey for having me. Love ya!

I LOVE the challenge graphics. Beautiful bouquet of flowers. Such vibrant colours. Perfect graphics to use with Penny Black floral stamps. And there are a variety of floral stamps to choose from Penny Black. I love their outline stamps because I can colour them 🙂

I heart you card1

I have used Penny Black’s Fresh stamp set on my card.

fresh picture

I stamped the flowers with Memento Black Ink and copic coloured them. I picked the colours from the challenge graphics. LOVE the vibrant colours of pinks and purples. I then die cut a rectangle panel out of the coloured floral image to be used as focal point.

I heart you flat closeup

For the background, I did the smooshing technique on regular cardstock. I used Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean distress inks instead of watercolour on a piece of acetate sheet, then sprayed with water and smooshed it on the card front on the top left and bottom right. Love the subtle, layered colour wash effect this technique gives.

I heart you flat

Once the card front is dry, I mounted my flower panel using foam adhesives to give some dimension. Sentiment is from I Heart You stamp set also from Penny Black. I simply stamped it on a strip of white cardstock, trimmed the fish tail banner and adhered it on the card front. Finally, some gorgeous Sparkly Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to bring everything together. I am pretty happy with how my card turned out. Hope you do too 🙂

Curtain Call Challenge – Beginnings!

Welcome to the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!!

This week we are inviting you to join us for…
The LEAD of this challenge will be invited to be a guest designer in an upcoming challenge!
Here is my take on the challenge.
I am inspired by the Cherie Blossom picture on the top left. Love the beautiful background of those pictures. I tried to recreate the background with cherry blossom in the foreground.

Have a great Day
So to create the hazy beautiful background, I sponged Pumice Stone distress ink from the top of the card front and Tattered Rose distress ink from the bottom. Then sprayed a fine mist of shimmer from Tsukineko. I love this shimmer spray. This gives the beautiful morning haze like feel to the background.

have a great day closeup
For the cherie blossoms I have used Penny Black’s Nature’s Song die. I die cut using kraft cardstock and then sponged Gathered Twigs distress ink to shade some dark and lighter brown. I then simply layered and glued the twigs in place. For the pink Cherry Blossoms, I added some Pink Blush 4mm sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
Have a great day closeup1
The sentiment is from A Day in Paris stamp set from Penny Black. I LOVE how this card turned out. Love the subtle background. Hope you like my take on the challenge.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge – Jelly Bean!

It’s time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

The Jelly Bean LEAD will be invited as a Guest Designer in a future challenge!

My inspiration comes from the beautiful coloured eggs and pastel colours on the inspirational graphics. Here is my take on the challenge.
Happy easer card1

The egg die is from Papertrey Ink. I used watercolour colour paper and smooshed some pastel watercolour in layers. Once dry I die cut the eggs.

happy Easter flat

To anchor the eggs, I die cut the fence out of Pretty Pink Posh Fence die using wood pattern paper. The sentiment “Happy” is a Winnie & Walter die which is die cut out of watercoloured smooched watercolour paper. The smaller sentiment is stamped on a strip of pattern paper, trimmed fish tail end and adhered using foam adhesives. Finally used enamel dots to bring everything together.

Happy easter flat 3

This is my take on the Jelly Bean inspiration challenge.

The LEAD of Donut Delight will be invited as a Guest Designer in our next challenge!

Here is my take on the challenge.
Donut card

Donuts are trendy at the moment. Who does not like donuts! I love them but at the moment can only drool at them. I am banned from eating sugary food for fear of developing diabetes. Runs in the family. So I am creating the paper donuts to satisfy my craving 😦

These donuts are made using My Favorite Things  Donuts dies. I have die cut the base of the donuts using kraft cardstock and the icing using various colour cardstocks. Inked the edges of the base using Gathered Twigs distress inks and the icing with matching distress inks. Then I glued the icing over the base. Then applied a generous coating of glossy accents to make the donuts look glossy. The sprinkles were are also die cut using the MFT die using various colour cardstocks. I sprinkled the sprinkles on the donuts when the glossy accents was still wet. Once dry, I gave another coat of glossy accent. The donuts came out lovely 🙂 I arranged them like how it is on the challenge graphics on the die cut panel. Then stamped the sentiment from Donuts and Sprinkles stamp set also from MFT on a strip of cardstock and adhered in the middle. Here is a  closeup!

Curtain Call Challenge – Soft Scarf

This challenge is sponsored by HERO ARTS.

Hero Arts generously provided couple of stamp sets to our design team members to use for this challenge. I chose Family and Friends stamp set and Stamp and Cut – The Fox Says. I love the trees in the Family and Friends and everything in The Fox Says stamp set. I decided to use both the stamp sets to make my card for the challenge below.

Hello card2

I used the colours from the Soft Scarf challenge graphics on my card. I stamped and heat embossed the trees from Family and Friends stamp set using three different blue pigment inks from Memento Luxe range. I like to use pigment inks for colour heat embossing. Then I die cut the mount using MFT dies upon which I stamped the border stamp from The Fox Says in a navy blue. I adhered this on to the card panel using foam adhesives. I stamped, coloured and cut out the fox. The sentiment is from Hooray stamp set also from Hero Arts. Finally accented with some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. I have used Corn Flower, Aquamarine and Pink Blush sequins. Here is a closeup!

Altenew is very generous and provided all the design team with a stamp set of their choice. I chose Doodle Blooms stamp set from Altenew.
Here is the stamp set:

Doodle Blooms

I simply used the colours from the inspirational graphics to make my card.
Happy Birthday card3
I picked white as my base, stamped the leaves using Delicata Silver Pigment ink. Once dry, I coloured the leaves with copic makers E000 and E00. These colours I picked from the challenge graphics. I stamped the leaves and flowers on white cardstock with black Memento ink and coloured with the same makers. Then hand cut them out.  I clustered them on a small vellum panel. I mounted this vellum panel on the stamped card panel using foam adhesives.

Happy Birthday closeup
The sentiment is from Label Love stamp set also from Altenew. I stamped using Delicata Silver ink, cut out and adhered on the flower leaves cluster. The finished panel is adhered to the card base using foam adhesives. Finally embellished with silver and white sequins.

Happy Birthday closeup1
So I have used a lot of white, a bit of light brown and silver from the challenge graphics. Hope you like it because I LOVE my take on the challenge.
